Freebie: Download “The Radiant Boy” – Merry Christmas, fellow AoS aficionados!

I hope this will bring all Age of Sail aficionados out there a little extra-cheer. May you and your loved ones have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed Yule! Neither is complete without a decent ghost story, read by candlelight, accompanied by a mug of hot cocoa.

THE RADIANT BOY (*.pdf file)
Four Ghost Stories from the Age of Sail

At the annual meeting of the “Young Bucks Club”, four officers serving in the Royal Navy during the Age of Sail share ghostly naval tales:

“The Radiant Boy”
“Crawford’s Casket”
“The Last Journey of HMS Dover
“Last Service”

The second book in Emma Collingwood’s and Amandine de Villeneuve’s “Penny, Dreadful and Tarbottom”-series, “The Radiant Boy” is an eerie and touching tribute to the classic English ghost story and the Royal Navy.

Text: Emma Collingwood
Ten colour illustrations by Amandine de Villeneuve
Editor: Timothy T. Tarbottom

And the Winner of Molly Joyful’s 2012 Yuletide Contest is:

Kerstin from Wedlitz/Germany!

She gave the correct answer to the question

“Molly Joyful names all her electronical devices. What are the names of her two laptops?”

Most people went for C: Bounce and Cuddy, closely followed by A: Emma and Horatio. But alas, they were all wrong! Only three people guessed right: my HP Pavilion is called Mr. Garrow and Stinky Miller is my wee MacBook Air.

You think that’s weird? I also name my handbags!

Kerstin asked if it was possible to switch the chocolate for the “Goethe!” DVD as she can’t eat chocolate due to allergies. No problem! I threw the names of all contest participants into a hat and pulled a second winner who’ll get the chocolate, and that lucky person is

Sophie from Llanelli/Wales!

Thanks a lot for everybody for sending in an answer! I’ll post DVDs and choccie on Monday, so it should be with the winners in time for Christmas.

Hornblower makes Port in Germany – Ioan Gruffudd will attend Galaxy Con

Geddaway with Mr Fantastic – Ioan Gruffudd will always be Horatio Hornblower to me (and I guess I’m not the only one). So here’s a nice little pre-Christmas present for all the Hornblowerites among you:

IOAN GRUFFUDD WILL ATTEND GALAXY CON IN GERMANY

The con takes place at the Maritim Hotel in Germany from 6 to 8 September, 2013. The con is brought to you by the people behind FedCon and RingCon, so you can count on a quality event.

horatio_not_the_nelson_one

Unfortunately, Mr Hornblower will have to make port without me; I’ve already signed up for HobbitCon (I’ll be a dwarf lady – including beard!) and FedCon (One word: “Muuuuummyyyyy”), and there’s a limit to the number of cons one Molly can afford, no matter how joyful she is.

In different news: WordPress just told me that the Joyful Molly is on WP for five years today – time’s flying! Why they had to give me such a godawful redesign of their dashbord as a present, I don’t know though…
