HMS Victory found

3 February, 2009 at 8:05 pm 2 comments

I don’t think there’s been a day with more visitors to this blog than yesterday – and all thanks to HMS Victory! Not Nelson’s Victory, of course – the one on dry-dock in Portsmouth, with the MoD trying to weasel its way out of paying for the maintenance – but HMS Victory which sank back in 1744.

THE ‘MIGHTY’ HMS VICTORY

As you might can imagine, I’m terribly excited, and can’t wait to hear more about that absolutely terrific find. I really have no words; as somebody with greatest interest for the Georgian navy, I feel like Howard Carter upon finding King Tut’s tomb.

For now, I’d like to direct you all to the Discovery Channel’s “Treasure Quest; Victory Special”, will be shown at 2100 GMT on 8 February.
