Bradley makes a good Iron Dukealike.and I love the Nelson makeover but what are they on about with Henry VIII needing heels to bring up his “diminutive height”. The bloke was a good six foot. You can tell from his armour.Do you think they might be muddling him up with Charles I? He was tiny.

Fashion really changes about 1790, and can be considered a part of the ‘long regency’ – technically of course the Regency didn’t start until 1811 but we fashion freaks disregard that as a sophistry. WHEN I get around to my long threatened book charting the period of the natural figure, I’ll be covering 1790-1820.
What a wonderful find, and I’m so glad the owner isn’t going to cut them up – when I see Ackermann prints on ebay I want to slap those who desecrated the books upside of the head. But then, as well as being a fashion freak, I’m also a bibliophile…
